TOP 10

Here is a list of my 10 favorite books!

This list may change fequently as I remember old books, or read new ones. It is also possible to remain stagnant.

01

The Classic Illustrated Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

This may seem cliche, but this was truly one of the best things I have ever read. Although there is older English, it isn't too much so to overtake the wonderful humor that made my cry far too often.

02

To No Man's Glory by Vincent and Victoria Benson

I could say that my opinion is a bit skewed on this matter seeing how I knew one of the authors before even reading the book, but the story sends a powerful message. This is a very telling account of WW2 and what it did.

03

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Please don't watch the movie. If you read this book, and please do, the movie will ruin your view of the story entirely. Regardless, the book was magnificent!

04

A Separate Peace by John Knowles

This begins as a somewhat lighthearted coming of age novel, but it has rather complex themes in the message it portrays. I don't want to give too much away because you need to read it!

05

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

A classic! Again, I realize this is one most have heard of, but it holds a dear place in my heart.

06

Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson

Although intended for a bit of a younger audience, this book addresses some older issues. Definitely worth a try.  As the title might suggest there will be some death in this book, but it is well worth it.

07

Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

Once again this takes place in WW2. Even if you have seen the movie, which I do say does a good job, please read this book as well! Very powerful to say the least.

08

The Odyssey by Homer

This is one that I am sure most have heard of, but few actually read all of the way through. I am sure you can cliff notes it to get the gist, but I'm saying it just won't be the same.

09

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

It is difficult to choose a favorite, but this would be the one I'd choose out of the collection. If this displeases you then take this as the series rather than this one book.

10

Animal Farm by George Orwell

A bit of a different pace, but a well written piece nonetheless. I do suggest you read when mature, and not as an elementary student. I found I appreciated it much more when it wasn't giving me nightmares! I guess the fifth grade is a bit much for this read. As an adult the the clear parallels are quite striking and become very real. You'll understand if you read it.
